Privacy Policy

Quran - Widgets & Prayer Times ("the app") is made by Anemoia Labs Ltd ("we", "us"). This policy says what the app collects, why, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. We have tried to write it so that it can be read in one sitting.

The short version

• You can use the app without an account. Your answers, preferences, prayer log, favourites and streak live on your phone.
• Your location is used on your phone to work out prayer times and the Qibla. If you sign in, your coordinates and city are stored in your account so your times follow you to a new phone.
• Purchases go through Apple. We never see your card.
• We use a small number of service providers to run the app: Supabase for accounts, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Mixpanel for analytics, Sentry for crash reports and a push notification provider for reminders. All are configured to keep data in the European Union where the provider offers it.
• You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, in Profile, in one tap.

What we collect, and why

Onboarding answers and preferences

The questions at the start of the app (how you heard about us, your age range, how you describe yourself, how your salah is, what you want to improve, and so on) shape the feed, the reminders and the personal ayah. They are stored on your phone. Some are sent to our analytics provider as properties of anonymous events so we can see which parts of the app people use.

Location

Prayer times depend on where you are. When you allow location, the app reads your position once, looks up your city and country on the device, and stores the coordinates, city, country code and time zone on your phone. If you decline, you can type a city instead, which is geocoded by Apple on the device. The app checks your position again when it is opened, at most every half hour and only if you already allowed it, so that the times follow you when you travel. Your position is never sent to advertisers, and it is never shared.

If you sign in, the coordinates, city and country are stored in your account (see Accounts below) so that a new phone shows the right times straight away.

Accounts

An account is optional. It exists so that your favourites, prayer log, streak, settings and gift are kept if you reinstall or change phone. Signing in uses Sign in with Apple or an email address. With Sign in with Apple you may hide your email; we then receive a relay address from Apple. Your account holds: your user id, email (or relay address), the name you gave the app, an optional profile picture, your prayer settings (location, calculation method, madhab), your favourites, your prayer log, your streak, your notification preferences and your subscription status.

Accounts are stored with Supabase in the European Union (Ireland).

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never receive your card details. RevenueCat processes the receipt to work out whether you have Quran Pro, and stores an app user id, purchase history and subscription status. If you buy a gift for a friend, a code is created and stored with your RevenueCat app user id so that it can only be minted once.

Analytics

We use Mixpanel, on its European Union servers, to understand how the app is used: which screens are opened, where onboarding is abandoned, which features are used. Events carry a random device or user id, your app version and device model. We do not send your name, your email, your location or the content of what you read.

Crash reports

We use Sentry, on its European Union servers, to collect crash reports: the error, the device model, the operating system version and the app version. Reports do not include your name, email or location.

Notifications

Adhan and ayah reminders are scheduled on your phone and need no server. If you allow notifications, a push token may be registered with our notification provider so that we can send occasional messages about the app. You can switch notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.

Advertising measurement

To learn which adverts bring people to the app, we may use the Meta and TikTok measurement SDKs. On iOS these only track across apps if you say yes to the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you say no, nothing is shared with them. They never receive your location, your answers or what you read.

Live Activities and widgets

Widgets and the Lock Screen activity render from a schedule the app writes to your phone. Nothing about them leaves the device.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not show adverts inside the app.
• We do not read your contacts, your photos (beyond a profile picture you choose) or your messages.
• The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Who else handles it

Apple (sign-in, purchases and notifications), Supabase (accounts and synced data), RevenueCat (subscription status), Mixpanel (product analytics), Sentry (crash reports), our notification provider, and, only with your consent, Meta and TikTok for advertising measurement. Some of them are outside the European Union, under standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Data on your phone stays until you delete the app. Account data stays until you delete the account. Analytics and crash data are kept for up to 24 months. Purchase records are kept for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export or delete what we hold about you. Deleting your account from inside the app (Profile, then Delete account) removes your account and its data from our systems; subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat follow their own retention. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area you have the rights set out in the UK GDPR and the GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
